165 haircuts

When clients sit in my chair we engage in conversation about all sorts of things.  One customer was curious as to what our free haircut promotion was all about.  I explained to this young girl (approximately 11 yrs old) that for every free kids' cut we do during the month of August, we donate $1 (up to $50,000 total) to the Boys & Girls Club of America and 4-H.  She shared her enthusiasm over our support towards the Boys & Girls Club of America, of which she is a member.  She also shared with me her dream of becoming a dentist one day; I have no doubt that she will succeed.

As part of the consultation, I asked my young customer how often she gets her hair cut.  Her response was "I get my hair cut when my mommy has money".  This broke my heart.   When this child left the salon, I realized that we aren't just advertising our salons, rather we are investing in the future of America. 

At the jcp salon we have a total goal of 100 free haircuts daily.  I have decided to set a personal goal to do a total of 165 haircuts during the entire month of August (79 working hours).  It is a tough challenge, but I will update you all on my progress.  As of now, I have done approximately 45 haircuts in 24 hours.  That is $45 closer to the $165 I hope to personally raise to support these organizations.
